Your job-board profile and your application resume should describe the same person. They do not need identical wording, but important facts should agree. Updating an attachment is a good time to inspect the surrounding profile rather than assuming every field has changed with it.

Give each surface a clear purpose
Use the resume to present the evidence most relevant to the role. Use requested profile fields to provide the information the platform asks for in its structured form. Read each field before copying text into it.

Keep a factual master record
Maintain your employment and education history outside any one application platform. Record formal titles, dates, qualifications and the projects you can discuss. Use that record when preparing a tailored file or updating a profile.
If you discover an error, check all copies you actively use. A small discrepancy repeated across several applications becomes harder to correct later. Keep a note of the versions you have already submitted, especially if a recruiter is responding to an earlier file.
Do not rewrite a formal title into a more senior position to improve keyword matching. Explain relevant responsibilities in the description while keeping the title accurate.
Keep job-specific versions distinguishable
A resume for a support role might highlight troubleshooting and customer communication. A version for an analyst role might lead with reporting work. Both should preserve the same underlying history.
Avoid placing incompatible career objectives in a general profile and an attached file. If your target changes, review the headline, summary, skills and attached document together. If the platform permits multiple files, use its current instructions to understand which file is being used for a particular application.
Check the uploaded file and saved answers
Use the file types and size requirements displayed by the current upload flow. After saving, inspect the visible result if the platform offers one. Check the document name and any extracted information. If you cannot verify the saved version, use the platform's help route before assuming the update succeeded.
