THE TAKEAWAY, BEFORE THE SCROLL

Review the visible PDF, its properties, and accessibility. Hidden metadata is not a shortcut to a better hiring result.

Your exported resume deserves a final review. Start with the content a reviewer can see and the text that can be extracted. Document properties are useful housekeeping, but they are not evidence of a hidden hiring advantage.

Editorial correction, September 22, 2026: earlier copy claimed that Guul always supplied particular metadata and accessibility tags, and that those features guaranteed successful parsing. We have removed those unverified product claims and guarantees.

Review document properties

If your PDF viewer shows a title or author, check that it does not expose an unintended name or an obsolete draft label. Use a clear filename that identifies your resume. Do not put private information in metadata simply because it is less visible than the page.

We have not established that an employer ranks candidates using PDF author, title, or keyword properties. Keep relevant skills in the visible text, supported by your experience.

Everything is asking for attention.

Closely packed headings and text leave fewer visual signposts. Try the other treatment.

Inspect the actual export

Open the file you intend to submit. Check for missing characters, overlapping lines, clipped text, and broken links. Select and copy text to look for gaps or unexpected ordering. If you can open it in another viewer, compare the result there too.

A selectable text layer alone does not certify accessibility or guarantee correct form autofill. A document that looks correct in one viewer may still require review in the employer's upload flow.

Treat accessibility as a separate check

Readable text, sensible structure, and assistive-technology behavior deserve their own verification. Do not equate a parsing score with PDF accessibility certification. If you need a specific accessibility standard, use a suitable validation process for that standard and inspect the exact exported file.

Know what was tested

Our parsing evidence page separates executed extraction checks from configuration-based predictions. It supplies fictional files and extracted text so you can inspect the measured result. Those tests do not establish vendor acceptance, accessibility compliance, or hiring outcomes.

Check your resume, then review the final application form before submitting.
