Hiring Team
Fernhill

Dear Hiring Team,

I'd like to be considered for the Staff Software Engineer role on Fernhill's payments platform. The event-driven work your post describes is the work I do today.

At Tessellate Pay I led the move of payment processing to an event-driven service that now handles 3 million transactions a day1. I also cut p95 API latency from 480 ms to 120 ms2 by redesigning the caching layer.

Your post asks for someone who can keep latency low at peak3 and help grow a team of eight. At Tessellate I mentored five engineers4, and two were promoted within a year.

I've spent nine years building payment and data systems with Go, TypeScript, Kafka, PostgreSQL and AWS. I'd be glad to talk about where Fernhill's platform goes next.

Sincerely,
Emma Clarke

    Dear Hiring Team,

Fernhill's post asks for someone to design event-driven services that handle millions of transactions. At Tessellate Pay I led the move of our payment processing to an event-driven service that now handles 3 million transactions a day, and that is the experience I would bring to your payments platform.

I also cut p95 API latency from 480 ms to 120 ms by redesigning the caching layer. Before Tessellate, at Harbor Analytics, I built the reporting pipeline used by 1,200 customer accounts and moved its nightly batch jobs to streaming, so reports refresh within five minutes. I introduced contract tests across nine services there, which ended a recurring class of release failures.

Your post also asks for someone who can keep latency low at peak and help grow a team of eight engineers. At Tessellate I mentored five engineers, and two were promoted within a year.

I've spent nine years on payment and data systems in Go and TypeScript, with Kafka, PostgreSQL and AWS. I'd welcome the chance to talk about the next stage of Fernhill's payments platform, and how I could help build it.

    Sincerely,

    Dear Hiring Team,

Nine years ago, at Cobalt Freight, I wrote the shipment-tracking API used by 300 carrier partners. I've worked on systems other people depend on ever since, and I'm happiest making complex systems simple to run.

At Harbor Analytics I built the reporting pipeline used by 1,200 customer accounts, then moved its nightly batch jobs to streaming, so reports refresh within five minutes. At Tessellate Pay I led the move of payment processing to an event-driven service that now handles 3 million transactions a day, and redesigned the caching layer, which cut p95 API latency from 480 ms to 120 ms.

That is why the Staff Software Engineer role stood out to me. Your post describes the next stage of Fernhill's payments platform: event-driven services that handle millions of transactions, and a team of eight engineers to grow. Growing engineers matters to me too. At Tessellate I mentored five engineers, and two were promoted within a year.

I'd be glad to tell you more about both moves, and about what I would bring to the next one at Fernhill.

    Sincerely,

It writes from your resume. Not from guesses.

Before it writes a word, Guul reads your resume and finds the facts it can use. Every draft is built from those facts and shows the ones it used, so you can check any line before you send it.

Questions, answered.

Does Guul make things up?
It's built not to. Guul writes from the facts on your resume, and every draft lists the facts it used. Check each draft before you send it.
Do I need a resume first?
Yes. Guul writes from a resume in your account, and it needs at least one job on it. Upload the resume you have, or build one from scratch.
What if there's no job post?
Write a networking letter instead. Name the company, and Guul writes one letter from your resume for an introduction or a referral.
Can I change one paragraph?
Yes. Edit any line yourself, or ask Guul to rewrite one paragraph and leave the rest as it is.
How is this different from ChatGPT?
Guul starts from your resume instead of a blank chat. It reads the job post, writes three drafts from the facts on your resume, shows which facts each draft used, and sets the letter in a design you can download as a PDF.
Is the cover letter generator free?
With a free Guul account, you get one AI generation each month with three drafts to choose from, plus three rewrites. Writing a cover letter yourself, copying it and downloading it as plain text are free. Letter PDF and Word downloads are included with every paid resume plan: One Resume, the 3- or 5-resume packs, and Pro. One-time plans include letter downloads for 30 days from purchase without using a resume unlock, and keep the free AI allowance. Pro includes downloads during paid access, plus 100 generations and 300 rewrites per month, with daily limits of 10 generations and 30 rewrites. Email and LinkedIn short versions share the rewrite allowance.
