Why Import From LinkedIn
Two ways to start
Use a public profile URL or your own LinkedIn PDF. What can be imported depends on the content available in that source.
Make it relevant
Select the experience that matters to the role. Edit your wording and review any AI suggestions before using them.
Check the result
Review parsing and structure with the free basic ATS checks. A check cannot guarantee how an employer reads or screens your application.
Stay in control
Your resume is a separate document you can edit. Changes to LinkedIn do not automatically sync to it.
Import methods & data integrity
Public LinkedIn URL import vs. LinkedIn PDF upload
Guul supports two ways to turn your LinkedIn history into an editable resume without asking for your LinkedIn password. When a public profile hides sections or rate-limits access, uploading LinkedIn’s own PDF export captures your full record.
| What to expect | Public Profile URL Import | LinkedIn PDF Upload (Recommended fallback) |
|---|---|---|
| Fields transferred | Public headline, summary, work history, education, skills & certifications visible to signed-out visitors | Complete work history, dates, education, top skills, languages & summary included in LinkedIn’s "Save to PDF" export |
| Account privacy & security | No LinkedIn login or OAuth connection required — reads only the public URL you paste | No LinkedIn login required — processes the PDF file you download from your own profile |
| How missing numbers are handled | Never fabricates metrics; flags bullets where you can add your real scope, revenue, or team size | Preserves every number in your PDF and prompts you for real figures where bullets lack measurable outcomes |
| ATS check across 6 hiring systems | Models reading risks for Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, iCIMS, Taleo and SAP SuccessFactors. Employer settings can differ. | Rebuilds LinkedIn PDFs into an editable resume and checks modeled reading risks for six hiring-system families. These are Guul simulations, not employer-system tests. |
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I import my LinkedIn profile?
Sign in to Guul, open the LinkedIn importer, and choose your public profile URL or a LinkedIn PDF. URL imports depend on public access and may fail. Try a PDF if your profile cannot be read, then review the imported content.
Will my LinkedIn content be rewritten?
Treat the import as a starting draft. Review the extracted content and edit it for your application. AI writing suggestions are separate from importing; check every suggestion and do not add achievements or numbers you cannot support.
Is the LinkedIn resume builder free?
Import, edit, and preview with a free Guul account. Finished resume downloads require a purchase. See pricing for current download options and AI allowances.
What data gets imported from LinkedIn?
Guul reads the content available in the public profile or PDF you provide, such as work experience, education, and skills. Private or missing sections cannot be recovered from that source. Compare the draft with your profile and correct missing or misplaced information.
Can I edit the imported content?
Yes. Review and edit the draft in the resume editor, remove irrelevant material, and choose a design. The resume is separate from your LinkedIn profile and does not automatically sync with it.
How is this different from downloading my LinkedIn PDF?
An imported draft lets you edit the content and choose a resume design in Guul. You can tailor the document to a particular application. Review the imported facts, layout, and finished file before sending it.
