How Mentor Review works

From a rough draft to a sharper story in three steps.

  1. 01

Set your review goal & optional Blind Mode

Name the target role you are aiming for, pick the feedback lenses you want (First impression, Impact & metrics, Clarity, Wording rewrite, or Role & ATS fit), and toggle Blind Review Mode if you want to hide your email, phone number, address, and personal URLs.

  2. 02

Mentors pin notes & rewrites without signing up

Your reviewer opens your link in their browser with no account required. They see your resume in its true page design, click any job entry or section, quote a specific bullet point, and propose a side-by-side rewrite.

  3. 03

Reply, apply rewrites in one click, and resolve

Work through your open notes in the margin rail. Compare each before-and-after wording suggestion, apply accepted rewrites directly to your saved resume in one click, and revoke the review link whenever you are done.

Designed for real resume critiques

Built for 1-on-1 mentors and anonymous community feedback alike.

Whether you are asking a trusted former manager for a five-minute read or posting your draft for a peer critique on Reddit or Discord, the room gives your reviewer the exact context they need while keeping you in control.

Entry-pinned & bullet-quoted feedback

Instead of vague messages in an email thread or broken PDF comments, every note pins to a specific section or experience entry and can quote the exact sentence it critiques.

Side-by-side rewrites with 1-click apply

Mentors can attach a concrete wording rewrite to any quoted bullet or summary. You see the original wording struck through above the suggestion and can apply it in one click.

Server-redacted Blind Review Mode

Sharing on Reddit, Discord, or a community Slack channel? Turn on Blind Review Mode to strip your email, phone number, street address, and profile links on the server before the page loads.

Structured review brief & critique lenses

Give reviewers context up front so they know what role you are targeting and what question you want answered first.

Separate, revocable mentor key

Your mentor review link uses a dedicated key separate from any public portfolio link. Revoking or rotating the mentor key cuts off review access immediately without affecting anything else.

Zero friction for busy reviewers

Reviewers never hit a sign-up wall. Their browser remembers their own notes so they can edit or delete a comment they just wrote.

Clear privacy boundaries and honest pricing

When Blind Review Mode is off, anyone holding your active review link can read your full resume, including contact details. Turn Blind Review Mode on whenever you share a link in a public forum so your email, phone number, street address, and personal website are redacted on the server. Review links do not expire automatically, and you can revoke or rotate your key at any time from the Invite tab.

Importing, editing, sharing a mentor review link, and applying mentor rewrites are free. Exporting finished unwatermarked PDF, Word (.docx), or plain-text (.txt) files requires a paid pass such as One Resume or Pro Monthly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my mentor or reviewer need a Guul account to leave notes?

No. Anyone with your active mentor review link can open the resume in their browser, click any section or job entry, and leave pinned notes or suggested rewrites without creating an account or signing in.

Is Mentor Resume Review free to use?

Yes. Creating a mentor review link, configuring Blind Review Mode, receiving unlimited notes and replies, and applying suggested rewrites to your resume in the review room are included with a free Guul account. Exporting finished unwatermarked PDF, Word (DOCX), or plain-text (TXT) files requires One Resume or a qualifying Pro plan.

How does Blind Review Mode protect my personal contact details?

When you enable Blind Review Mode in the Invite tab and save your settings, the server redacts your email address, phone number, street location, and personal URLs from the shared resume payload before sending it to reviewers. Your actual saved resume in the editor stays untouched.

Are mentor review links indexed by Google or AI crawlers?

No. Every /review workspace and /review/:resumeId link sends an X-Robots-Tag: noindex header, is disallowed in robots.txt, and requires your cryptographic review token in a request header. Search engines cannot index your shared resume.

What happens when I revoke a mentor review link?

Revoking the link immediately invalidates the mentor key. Anyone who opens the old link sees that the link is no longer valid, while all existing notes remain in your review room for you to read, apply, or resolve. Your portfolio share link is completely separate and unaffected.
