Campus Placement Resume: A Practical Review Checklist

Prepare a campus placement resume with consistent academic records, specific project contributions and the format your college actually requires.

THE TAKEAWAY, BEFORE THE SCROLL

Use the placement cell’s current instructions as the format authority. Check academic facts, project ownership and final files before treating the resume as ready.

A campus resume has two jobs: it must describe your preparation clearly and fit the submission process your college uses. A stylish alternative may be unhelpful if the placement cell requires a prescribed format.

The checklist below is written by Guul as a practical review aid. It is not approved by a placement officer or university, and it does not establish any college's current policy. Ask your own placement cell for the instructions for your batch and recruitment cycle.

Start with your placement cell’s instructions

Check whether there is a required document, section order, naming convention, deadline or review process. Confirm which details need to match the placement portal. Do not copy another institution's format and assume it applies to yours.

Institution-specific formats are a real consideration: an older IIIT-Delhi programme placement policy explicitly refers to a prescribed resume format. That historical example is not a current rule for every IIIT-Delhi programme or for your college.

Everything is asking for attention.

Closely packed headings and text leave fewer visual signposts. Try the other treatment.

Check academic facts against the original record

Write qualification and institution names consistently. Show your actual completion status and marks in the original scale. If a form requires a converted score, use the awarding institution's method and retain the source.

Do not infer a recruitment cut-off from someone else's resume. Eligibility comes from the current employer or placement instructions. The marks and CGPA guide explains how to keep the presentation clear without inventing conversions.

Make team-project ownership explicit

For each selected project, identify the problem, the work you personally completed, the tools used and what the team produced. Describe group outcomes as group outcomes. A reader should be able to separate your contribution from the wider submission.

Fictional teaching example: “Implemented the validation rules and test cases for a team expense-tracking project.” This is more precise than claiming to have independently built every part of the application. Add a result only if it is real and you can explain how it was measured.

Keep links accessible where appropriate and remove passwords, confidential records or private datasets. A broken repository link is not useful evidence.

Review the document as a complete submission

Check What you should be able to confirm
Identity and contact Correct spelling and working contact details
Academic record Consistent qualification, dates, status and score scale
Experience Internships and other work labelled accurately
Projects Your contribution is distinguishable from the team's
File Correct format, version and readable exported text
Submission Current placement instructions followed

Download the campus review checklist and use it beside your own college's requirements. It is a blank review resource, not a certification.

If the college permits a free-choice design, inspect the campus template guide. If the application is outside the placement process, use the off-campus guide and blank application tracker to keep versions organised.
