How page estimation and bullet density work

This checker counts words, lines, and bullet markers directly in your browser. It estimates page length using typical single-column typography (~425 words per US Letter page and ~450 words per A4 page). Actual page breaks depend on your template’s margins, font family, section spacing, and multi-column arrangement.

To see exact pixel-for-pixel page breaks on US Letter or A4 before you apply, open your draft in the Guul editor. Building and previewing are free; exporting a finished PDF or Word (.docx) file requires a paid pass such as One Resume or Pro Monthly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many words should a resume or CV be?

For most roles, 380 to 750 words fits cleanly on a 1-page US Letter resume or a 1-to-2 page A4 CV. In the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and India (for experienced professionals), a well-structured 2-page A4 CV of 450 to 850 words is standard.

Why does bullet length matter on a resume?

Bullets under 6 words usually name a task without explaining how you did it or what changed. Bullets over 32 words wrap into 3 or 4 dense lines that are hard to scan quickly. Aim for 14 to 28 words per bullet.

Why does US Letter vs A4 change the estimated page count?

US Letter (8.5 × 11 inches) is slightly wider and shorter than international A4 (210 × 297 mm). An A4 page holds roughly 5% to 7% more vertical lines at the same font size and margin settings.
