Dear [Hiring manager's name],
I've served on the board of Larkspur Youth Foundation for four years, the last two as finance committee chair, and I'm now looking to bring that same governance experience to a second organization with a different mission. Your board's recent expansion into rural program sites is the kind of growth I'd like to help steward, and the finance and risk questions that come with it.
As finance committee chair I helped grow Larkspur's annual fund from $400,000 to $900,000 over three years and led the committee through a full reserve-policy rewrite after an audit flagged our lack of one. I also chaired the search committee that hired our current executive director and sat on the compensation committee that set her contract terms.
By profession I'm a vice president at a regional analytics firm, which is where the budget and risk-oversight instincts I bring to board work come from. I read a 990 and an audited financial statement the way most people read a résumé, and I ask the questions a board is supposed to ask before a check gets signed.
I'd welcome a conversation with your nominating committee about where [Organization name]'s board most needs a new voice, whether that's finance, fundraising or both. I'm glad to share references from my current board chair.
With appreciation,
Lena White
