Dear [Hiring manager's name],
At Cascadia Outfitters I build and maintain the ETL jobs that move order, inventory and returns data from six separate source systems into our reporting warehouse every single night. I'm applying for the ETL Developer role because your posting describes the same kind of hands-on pipeline ownership across multiple source systems that I do every day.
I rebuilt our returns ETL job, which had been failing silently about twice a month and letting stale numbers reach the finance team; after the rebuild, with proper error handling and alerting, it has run without a missed load for eleven months. I also redesigned our incremental load logic for the inventory job, cutting its runtime from 3 hours to 25 minutes.
I write SQL and Python for transformation logic, build pipelines in Talend and Airflow depending on the job, and document every source-to-target mapping so a schema change doesn't take the team by surprise. I've onboarded two newer developers onto our ETL standards this year.
I'd welcome the chance to talk through the returns ETL rebuild and hear where [Company name]'s own pipelines might be silently struggling. I'm glad to work through a technical exercise in an interview. Thank you for considering my application.
Kind regards,
Yuki Kim
