It is not legally mandatory, but it is strongly preferred or explicitly requested by many European employers and institutions. EU-funded programs, government positions, and international organizations frequently require Europass-formatted CVs. European CV conventions vary by country. In Germany, Austria, and France, a professional photo is commonly expected. In the UK, Ireland, and Nordic countries, photos are typically omitted.
