A PDF link can be stored as an annotation with an action or destination, separate from the words displayed on the page. That does not prove whether a particular ATS extracts the target or follows the link. Put important evidence in the resume itself and use links as supporting material.
Show enough information in the document
If a portfolio or profile link matters for the role, give it a clear label and a recognizable destination. Do not rely on an icon or the words Click here as the only clue. Keep essential skills and experience in readable resume text.
Check the exported link
Open the final file, test the destination and inspect the visible text. A working click does not prove that an extracted text view contains the full URL. If the destination needs to remain visible in plain text, include a concise readable URL.
Use relevant, accessible destinations
Link to work you can share and check whether it requires a login or permission. A direct recognizable address can be easier for a reader to assess than a shortened link. This is practical advice, not evidence that every employer blocks shortened URLs or that every parser never visits links.
