Treat an AI draft as proposed wording, not as a record of your career. Build a small fact list from your actual job titles, dates, responsibilities, tools and outcomes. Compare every generated claim with that list before using it.

- Treat an AI draft as proposed wording, not as a record of your career.
- Delete it unless it is a real, supportable result. You can write a useful accomplishment with the action, context and known outcome without fabricating a percentage.
A practical checklist
Review one role at a time. Highlight every number, title, qualification and statement about ownership. Trace each to something you know or can document. If a suggestion changes helped into led, confirm whether you actually led the work. Remove invented percentages and unsupported achievements. Check tense and dates, then read the complete version against the original.
Mistakes and limits to keep in mind
A polished sentence can still be wrong. If an outcome was not measured, describe the action and scope without adding a number. Keep the previous version so rejecting a rewrite does not require reconstructing your history. No automated check can certify facts it was never given.
Audit the verbs as carefully as the numbers
Ownership changes can be subtle. Assisted, coordinated, managed and led describe different levels of responsibility. Compare the generated wording with what you actually did and who held the decision-making role. Review titles, team size, budget scope and seniority in the same way.
If the rewrite is stronger than the facts, restore the accurate verb and add concrete context instead. You can make a contribution understandable without taking credit for another person’s work or implying responsibility you did not have.
Keep a fact bank for future applications
Store a private list of verified roles, dates, projects, qualifications and outcomes. Include the source or your own note where a number needs context. Tailor from this record rather than allowing each AI session to reinvent your history.
Before submitting, compare the summary, skills and work history with one another. A deleted qualification can remain in a generated summary. Save the exact checked version and the job description so later edits do not erase what was sent.
