Format a clear one-to-two page A4 CV for Spanish and international employers.

Published by Guul

Whether you are applying in Spanish or English to an employer in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao or Malaga, hiring teams expect a well-structured one-to-two page A4 currículum vitae with reverse-chronological dates, concrete achievements and accurate qualification titles. Start with the vacancy requirements before choosing your language and attachments.

Structure your A4 CV for rapid recruiter and portal review

Place your contact details at the top of page one, followed by a brief professional summary, reverse-chronological work experience, education and language/technical skills. Use consistent MM/yyyy or month-and-year dates and keep bullet points focused on the work you performed and the results you can support.

Avoid placing essential dates or role titles inside decorative graphics or multi-column boxes that can read out of sequence when uploaded to an online recruitment portal.

Keep degrees, licences and language levels verifiable

Write university degrees (Grado, Máster, Licenciatura or international credentials), vocational titles (Formación Profesional) and professional collegiate registrations (colegiación) accurately. Do not claim official homologation (homologación) of a foreign degree unless it has been granted.

State Spanish, English and any co-official regional language proficiency honestly using CEFR levels (B1, B2, C1, C2) alongside any official certificates you hold.

Protect personal data and inspect your exported PDF

You do not need to include national identification numbers (DNI or NIE), full street addresses or marital status on a standard CV for Spain unless an official public-sector notice explicitly requires them.

Before submitting, open your exported A4 PDF, run it through the browser PDF text check, and review every field in the employer's application portal.

Frequently asked questions

Should a CV for Spain be one page or two pages?

One A4 page works well for early-career candidates, while up to two A4 pages is standard for experienced professionals. Keep the most relevant recent experience on page one.

Is a photo required on a Spanish CV?

While photos are still common on traditional Spanish CVs, many multinational companies and tech employers prefer or accept clean single-column A4 CVs without a photo. Check the vacancy and industry norms.
