Match the document to the role
Read whether the opportunity asks for a resume, an academic CV or a separate application form. For a role-focused resume, identify the skills and evidence the employer requests before choosing a layout. Keep supporting documents separate when the application requires them.
NTU’s guidance emphasizes tailoring and substantiated claims. Use relevant projects, internships, co-curricular activities or volunteering where they demonstrate the work required. Keep those contexts accurately labelled.
Make the contribution visible
Explain the task and your own action, then add a known outcome or scope. Do not adopt a number from an example or an AI suggestion unless it is true of your experience. If no result was measured, explain what the work produced or supported.
Choose an editor that makes it easy to revise bullets and reorder relevant evidence. A long list of keywords is not a substitute for showing where you applied the skill.
Choose a readable format without assuming a universal rule
NTU’s general guidance describes concise one- or two-page resumes and clear presentation. Follow the employer’s specific limits if they differ. Use enough detail to explain relevant work without shrinking text to force an arbitrary page count.
When PDF is accepted, inspect the actual exported file and its selectable text. If an editable document is requested, check Word export before purchasing. An ATS-friendly label does not certify every employer’s parsing behavior.
Compare the price and continuing access
Check whether the displayed amount is SGD or another currency, what is due immediately and whether it renews. If a promotion is involved, distinguish the first term from the renewal term. Decide whether ongoing AI or tracking features are useful for your search or whether a single document is enough.

Review the whole application package
Verify contact links, institution names, dates and job titles after importing or rewriting. Keep the exact sent version with the job description and any cover letter. Make sure a previous employer name has not carried into a newly tailored file.
Use career services or a reviewer familiar with the role when you need advice about relevance. A tool can check document features or suggest wording, but it cannot validate your achievements or promise an interview.
