A resume can contain contact details, employment history and information about other people. Before uploading it, understand where it is stored, whether AI processing is involved and who can access a shared link. A statement that a tool is free or open source does not answer those questions.
Start here
- A resume can contain contact details, employment history and information about other people.
- Not necessarily. Anyone who obtains a link may be able to open it, depending on the access controls. Use the service’s supported permissions and avoid posting the link publicly.
A practical checklist
Read the privacy policy and sharing controls of the actual service you use. Check which details an application really needs. Remove referee contact details unless you have a reason and permission to include them. Review public profile settings and link permissions before sharing. Keep the original privately and use a reduced-detail copy for public feedback.
Mistakes and limits to keep in mind
Account deletion, stopping subscription billing, deleting a resume and revoking a shared link can be separate processes. Ask the service about retention and backups if its policy is unclear. This guide does not promise that Guul stores no data or processes every action locally; consult its current privacy policy and account controls.
Prepare different copies for different audiences
A public feedback copy does not need every detail required by a private application. Remove phone numbers, precise addresses, referee details and confidential client information when those facts are unnecessary for the review. Keep labels understandable so reviewers can still assess the structure.
Share the complete application only with the intended recipient through the requested channel. Before posting a link, check whether it is public, unlisted or permission-controlled, and whether it can be revoked after sharing.
Review AI processing and account cleanup separately
Read which actions send content for processing and whether a provider or other subprocessor is involved. Do not assume that declining a rewrite removes every form of storage or processing. If a policy does not answer your concern, ask the service before uploading the sensitive version.
At the end of your search, inventory saved documents, shared links, subscriptions and local backups. Deleting one does not automatically remove all the others. Follow each supported control and retain only the records you still need.
