Changing builders should give you a useful document without losing work you already own. This guide covers moving content from Zety into another editing workflow, including Guul. It does not cancel an account, bypass a paid export or promise to reproduce the original design exactly.
Start here
- Confirm formatted download access and the selected renewal period before paying. Review your account confirmation separately if you cancel Zety; importing into Guul does not change that account.
- Keep the original and review the new file before replacing your submission copy.
Preserve your work first
Save a TXT export if it is available in your account, or copy the text you wrote. Keep a screenshot for visual reference. Paste the text into Guul, check each section and choose a layout. Formatting may need to be rebuilt.
Use the text export when that is sufficient
Zety’s pricing information describes TXT as its free builder export. If your goal is to move your writing, that may be enough without buying another formatted export. Save it locally and check the section order. If you already have a PDF or Word file through your existing access, retain it as an additional reference.
Do not assume a paid introductory plan is a one-time document purchase. If you are leaving because you do not want renewal, preserving the text and managing the subscription are separate steps.
Rebuild the layout deliberately
A plain-text source does not carry fonts, spacing or page breaks. Add your sections to the new editor in a clear order, then choose a template that fits the amount of content. Check role dates and bullet grouping before changing visual details.
If a required field is not part of your experience, remove or hide it rather than entering filler. Open the final file and inspect the last page. Keep the Zety text export so future revisions do not depend on remembering the old wording.
Review the purchase separately from the document
The key comparison is a renewable plan versus a purchase for one resume. A short job search does not remove the need to cancel a renewing plan. Check the annual option as well rather than assuming every Zety customer pays the four-week price.

Separate content editing from a template change
Use the change of builder as an opportunity to label your content clearly. Put employer, role and dates on separate source lines before pasting if the original export combines them. Preserve the original achievements without accepting every suggested rewrite; stronger wording still needs to describe work you performed.
Choose one target job and compare that version with the saved Zety draft. Is the most relevant experience still near the top? Have older positions accidentally become longer than the current one? Review the content before judging the new template. Guul permits free importing and editing, with paid PDF, Word and plain-text downloads.
