Many resume builders advertise a low trial price, then renew every four weeks rather than every calendar month. That is easy to miss at checkout. This guide shows how the yearly total adds up, using prices we checked on a stated date. It also shows how to stop renewals through each company’s official page and how to keep a copy of your draft. Guul cannot cancel or refund another company’s charge. If you already have your text, you can import it free on Guul Rescue. When you need the file, One Resume gives unlimited PDF and Word downloads of that one resume for 30 days from purchase, and it does not renew.

What an unexpected renewal looks like
An unexpected renewal is when a low intro price turns into a recurring charge you did not plan for. Many of these plans bill every four weeks, which is 13 charges a year, not 12.
This page does not accuse any company of illegal conduct. We cite published prices, terms and help articles, with the date we checked them. Button labels change, so check your own account and the company’s current Contact or FAQ page.
If you only need one PDF for one application, a plan that keeps renewing is usually more than you need. A one-time purchase for one resume fits better. On Guul that is One Resume.
The four-week math (do this before you buy)
1. Find the renewal price and how often it bills: every four weeks, every calendar month, or once a year. 2. If it bills every four weeks, multiply the renewal price by 13 to get the yearly total. 3. Compare that with what you need: one PDF, or months of tailoring. 4. Check the refund window separately. Cancelling is not a refund.
Two examples, taken from each company’s own pricing page and checked on September 13, 2026: • Zety: $1.95 for 14 days, then $25.95 every four weeks. 13 × $25.95 = $337.35 a year. • Resume.io: $2.95 for 7 days, then $29.95 every four weeks. 13 × $29.95 = $389.35 a year.
Prices change. Open the company’s pricing page before you rely on these figures.
Guul’s One Resume is a single charge, shown on Guul’s Pricing page. It does not renew. Our resume builder pricing comparison has the full dated table.
Builder snapshot: renewal price and yearly total
The table at the top of this guide shows each builder’s published renewal price, the yearly total if you stay subscribed, and where each company says to start a cancellation. Refund windows are set by each company, not by Guul. Read their current terms or FAQ before you rely on a deadline.
Save your files first
Before canceling or chatting with support:
1. Download any PDF or Word file you already unlocked, or copy the text into a local document. 2. Screenshot the layout you care about (formatting rarely survives a move). 3. Keep the receipt email, the last four digits of the card, and approximate charge date. 4. Do not delete the account before you have confirmation that billing is stopped.
Deleting is not canceling. Importing into Guul does not cancel the old subscription.
Stop the next charge through the official page
Use the company’s own cancel or contact page. Guul never cancels on your behalf.
Zety: start at zety.com/contact (My Plan, phone or chat). Guul’s step-by-step Zety guide is linked below.
Resume.io: start at resume.io/contact/cancel-subscription. Guul’s Resume.io guide is linked below.
MyPerfectResume: use the secure contact form at myperfectresume.com/contact-us/send-message and choose the topic “I want to Cancel”. Guul’s MyPerfectResume guide is linked below.
Resume Now: start at resume-now.com/contact-us. Guul’s Resume Now guide is linked below.
For any other builder, use Guul’s general subscription cancel checklist.
If the labels you see differ from someone else’s screenshot, trust your own account and the company’s Contact page.
Cancel does not mean refund
Cancellation stops future renewals (or ends them at period end — ask the vendor for the effective date). A refund is a separate request against past charges, often limited to a short window that each company sets.
Guul cannot: • Refund a Zety / Resume.io / MyPerfectResume / Resume Now charge • File a dispute with your bank for you • Promise a competitor’s money-back outcome
If you need a refund, follow that brand’s FAQ/Terms and contact their support. For general consumer advice on trials and auto-renewals, see the FTC guide on free trials, auto-renewals, and negative-option subscriptions (consumer.ftc.gov).
Already have the draft? Import free
1. Open Guul Rescue. 2. Paste your resume text or upload a PDF or Word file you are allowed to keep. 3. Check names, employers, dates and bullets. The layout may change. 4. When you need the file, buy One Resume. It gives unlimited PDF and Word downloads of that one resume for 30 days from purchase. It does not renew, and exports are never watermarked. Guul offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, even after you download. That is Guul’s policy and does not apply to other companies.
If you want the full picture first, compare prices on the resume builder pricing comparison page.
Who this guide helps
• You just found an auto-renewal: stop the next charge, then decide whether to switch. • You were surprised by the price: see how four-week billing reaches 13 charges a year. • You are a student or applying for one job: you needed one PDF, not a year of access. • You are stuck with a watermark or a TXT-only export: you need a clean file, and should cancel first if a trial is running.
Not for: anyone looking for Guul to run a chargeback. Guul does not handle disputes with other companies.
